Some class levels aren’t offered at every location. We’ll do our best to match you with the location you prefer, and if your level isn’t available there, we’ll offer you another location.

Intermediate and advanced remote classes meet on Thursday and Friday from 9:00AM-12PM via Zoom.

Beginner level remote classes meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00AM.

We will assign your class schedule according to your placement test results.

You must have a device (smart phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer) with a camera, microphone and a reliable internet connection. A laptop or desktop computer is preferable for better viewing.

You must have the Zoom application installed on your device and be able to use the application without assistance.

Remote students are expected to attend classes as they would in person.

Funding for ESOL classes is based on attendance and assessment results. Failure of an individual to comply with attendance and assessment policies can adversely effect the future funding of classes for ALL students.

By signing below, I agree to attend classes as scheduled and to complete a minimum of two assessments during the school year.

I understand that I will be removed from classes and my space will be given to a waiting student if I do not attend as scheduled.

Release of Information

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) funds our program, Abisi Adult Education Center.

To keep funding, DESE must tell the federal government how students do with work and school after they leave our program.

We collect information about jobs and education every three months for up to one year after you leave the program. We call this "follow up."

If you give your Social Security number when you register, we will use it to match records with the Department of Employment, HiSET/GED, and postsecondary enrollment records. If we can match records this way, we will not need to contact you.

If you do not provide your Social Security number, we will contact you by text message, phone call, and/or email to ask about your job and education.

DESE sends the results of this follow up to the federal government. The data sent does not include your name or other information that directly identifies you.

Please respond to any messages you get from us about follow up. Your answers help the program keep its funding.

Sharing this information helps us know how well we are helping students. DESE and Abisi Adult Education Center will keep this information private unless the law requires sharing it.

Students must complete a brief speaking assessment to determine the level of instruction needed. You may complete the assessment in person, or remotely via Zoom. Assessments are administered week days between 8:00AM and 12:30PM, and week nights between 5:00 and 8:30PM.
